…So there’s that X-Men!AU story where both James and Michael are mutants. James’ mutation is completely useless - he can get pregnant in spite of the fact he’s, well, a guy. He is pregnant when the story begins; his last boyfriend (and the father of his child) left him and he feels absolutely miserable. And he’s afraid of humans. He’s asked Charles Xavier to let him stay at the X-Mansion and Xavier of course agreed. At this point James has no idea what he should do with his life. He feels lost and helpless.

Now, Michael’s mutation is something very similar to vampirism. He can’t stand the sun, has to drink human blood (although it can also be artificial one), is pale, has sharp pointy teeth etc. He’s stronger than other people, can run faster and his wounds heal very quickly. He doesn’t want to be superhero; he doesn’t enjoy drinking blood either. For both James and Michael the School is more a refuge, asylum than a place to develop their abilities (and, to tell the truth, James’ mutation only causes him problems).

At first they don’t know each other. There are many people living in the mansion and Michael doesn’t go out much throughout the day. But one night, when he wanders around the dark and empty halls, he meets James who sits alone in the kitchen…
